Domain Cancellation Scam

Jun 21, 2018

Recently an email has been circulating warning customers that their Web Domain has not been paid for yet and will be cancelled if they do not pay (See below). The email may even show enough information about your domain to look legitimate, however this information is in the public domain and freely accessible. Like with all emails of this nature, if it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Do not click on the links provided in the email, rather go directly to the source to check your current status. If we manage your domain name then a quick email or phone call and we can confirm the actual status of your domain. All providers should be able to do the same. It is important to mention here that good quality paid for antivirus protection should stop the link from opening if you do happen to click on it. This is your second layer of defense to help protect you when your busy or just make a mistake. If you think you have fallen for this or any other scam, or if you just want to know more about how to protect yourself going forward, then don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss your situation with us.
